Air conditioning in Hertfordshire homes has moved from a luxury to a practical consideration — particularly for home offices, bedrooms and south-facing living rooms. With summer temperatures increasingly hitting 30°C+ and heat pumps making air conditioning dual-purpose (cooling in summer, heating in winter), it's now a year-round investment rather than a seasonal one.

We carry out every installation with our own F-Gas certified engineers — no subcontractors. This matters because a correctly installed system performs significantly better and lasts longer than one where the refrigerant charge has been set incorrectly or the pipework has been poorly routed.

We don't quote over the phone because two installations that look identical on paper can be very different jobs once you factor in pipe run length, electrical supply position, wall thickness and outdoor unit access. The free site survey is how we give you a price that won't change.

We install Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Samsung, LG and Panasonic — all brands with 10–15 year track records and strong UK service networks. We won't install budget units from lesser-known brands that save £200 upfront and cause problems within 3 years.

Which System Is Right for You?

System type depends on how many rooms you want to condition, your property type, and the available space for the outdoor unit.

Split System

One outdoor unit, one indoor unit. The most common choice for conditioning a single room — bedroom, living room, or home office. Wall-mounted indoor unit, discreet outdoor unit at low level.

Best for

  • 1 room
  • Most cost-effective per room
  • Simplest installation

Guide price

£1,200 – £3,500 installed

Complete installed price, ex VAT

Multi-Split System

One outdoor unit connected to 2–5 indoor units throughout the property. More cost-effective than installing multiple standalone systems when several rooms are needed.

Best for

  • 2–5 rooms
  • Single outdoor unit
  • Individual room control

Guide price

£3,500 – £9,000 installed

Complete installed price, ex VAT

Cassette Unit

Ceiling-mounted, four-way airflow distribution. Ideal for open-plan spaces, larger rooms or commercial premises where even air coverage is important.

Best for

  • Open-plan spaces
  • Commercial premises
  • Minimal wall impact

Guide price

£2,000 – £4,500 per unit

Complete installed price, ex VAT

Floor-Standing Unit

Stands against a wall rather than mounting on it. Ideal for rooms where wall mounting is not practical, or where the occupant prefers directional airflow at floor level.

Best for

  • No wall fixings
  • Easily moved
  • Good for older buildings

Guide price

£1,500 – £3,000 installed

Complete installed price, ex VAT

Heating and Cooling — Year Round

Modern inverter air conditioning units are reverse-cycle heat pumps. In heat mode, they typically produce 3–4 units of heat per unit of electricity consumed — far cheaper to run than an electric panel heater or storage radiator. For a room that's cold in winter as well as hot in summer, one system solves both problems.

How the Installation Works

01

Free site survey

We assess the best indoor unit location, pipe run routes, outdoor unit position, and electrical supply. We advise on system type and specification before you commit to anything.

02

Fixed price quote

You receive a fully itemised written quote covering equipment, labour, pipework and commissioning. Price locked — no surprises on the invoice.

03

Installation scheduled

A single split system is usually installed within the week. Multi-splits may require slightly longer lead time for equipment. We confirm your installation date.

04

Installation day

Our F-Gas certified engineers install the indoor unit, route refrigerant pipework, mount the outdoor unit and complete all electrical connections.

05

Commissioning

We commission the system: verify refrigerant charge, test cooling and heating modes, check for leaks, and confirm airflow and temperature performance.

06

Handover and documentation

We walk you through the remote and app, explain filter maintenance, and issue your installation documentation including the F-Gas record.

Air Con Installation FAQs

In most cases, no. Domestic installations are covered by Permitted Development rights. Exceptions include listed buildings, flats with shared roof space, and some conservation areas. We advise on any planning considerations during the survey.

A single split system for one room typically costs £1,200–£2,000 installed. A premium single system for a larger room costs £2,000–£3,500. Multi-split systems covering 3 rooms range from £3,500–£6,000. These are complete installed prices — equipment, labour, pipework and commissioning.

Yes — all modern inverter units are reverse-cycle heat pumps. They cool in summer and heat in winter. Running an air conditioning unit in heat mode typically costs significantly less per hour than an electric panel heater.

A single split system takes one day. A multi-split with 2–4 indoor units takes 1–2 days. Larger systems take 2–3 days. We confirm the exact timeline when you receive your quote.

Very. Modern inverter units carry SEER ratings of A++ or A+++ for cooling efficiency. Running a modern split system in a bedroom overnight typically costs less than 20p.

Typically wall-mounted at low level or on a ground bracket at the rear or side of the property. It needs clear airflow and shouldn't be boxed in. We assess the best position during the survey.

Annual servicing is recommended. Systems containing more than 3kg of refrigerant require annual F-Gas leak checks — a legal requirement. Annual service costs £90–£180 per system.

A split system has one outdoor unit connected to one indoor unit — for a single room. A multi-split has one outdoor unit connected to 2–5 indoor units throughout the property. Multi-split is more cost-effective than installing multiple standalone systems.

Yes, but it requires more planning. The outdoor unit needs a suitable mounting location — typically a rear balcony, outside wall, or roof — and routing through shared areas may need building management consent. We assess feasibility at survey.

Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Samsung, LG and Panasonic all have strong 10–15-year reliability track records. The most important factor is correct installation and regular servicing — which is why we use only our own F-Gas certified engineers.

The refrigerant pipework is typically run in plastic conduit on the external wall. We plan routes at survey to minimise visual impact, often routing through cavities or under floors where possible. We discuss all options before starting.

Increasingly yes. UK summers are getting hotter, and a modern unit also provides heating in winter — making it a year-round asset rather than a seasonal one. The cost-per-room has dropped significantly with modern inverter technology.
